In 1921, a British archaeological expedition unearths the mummified remains of the ancient Egyptian high priest Imhotep. When a young member of the expedition reads aloud the Scroll of Thoth, he unknowingly brings Imhotep back to life. Ten years later, Imhotep, disguised as the modern Egyptian Ardath Bey, searches Cairo for the reincarnation of his lost love, Princess Ankh-es-en-amon.
He believes he has found her in Helen Grosvenor, the half-Egyptian daughter of a British diplomat. As Imhotep attempts to kill Helen and mummify her, making her his immortal bride, it’s up to Frank Whemple and Dr. Muller to thwart his plans and break his powerful hold over her.
